This classic itinerary visits Kenya’s highlights: the beautiful semi-arid wilderness of Samburu National Reserve with its unique dry-country species; the forests around Mt Kenya; Lake Nakuru with its millions of flamingos, pelicans and other wildlife; the grasslands of the Maasai Mara, renowned for its huge herds of game and large number of predators.

Days 1: Nairobi-Samburu 318 km (approx. 5hrs 40 mins)

Early departure by road for Samburu, home of the nomadic Samburu tribe. Samburu national park is known for the presence of unique species such as Gravy’s Zebra, the long-necked Gerenuk, among the wildlife that shares this semi-arid habitat .Arrive in Samburu time for lunch, after lunch proceed for afternoon game drive in search of wildlife such as reticulated Giraffe, Gravy’s zebra, Beisa Oryx and the blue necked Somalia ostrich.

Day 2: Samburu Full Day

On this day, after breakfast you will spend Full day option in Samburu National park or early morning and afternoon game drives in park, which covers 40 square miles (104 square kilometers). Ololokwe Table Mountain forms a dramatic backdrop to our game viewing.
Samburu is also home to the third of Kenya’s giraffe species – the rare Reticulated Giraffe (only found in the Northern parks). This is also where you see the blue-legged Somali Ostrich, the long-necked Gerenuk gazelle and the straight-horned Beisa Oryx antelope.

Day 3: Samburu- Mt Kenya 164 km (approx. 4hours)

Leaving Samburu, after an early morning breakfast, drive past small farms, fruit and coffee plantations en route to Mt Kenya. Check in to your hotel then venture out to Ol-pajeta Conservancy. Experience close encounters with elephants, wild dog, lion, hyena, buffalo, cheetah, rhino, and all the plains herbivores. Early morning and evening are the best times to explore the Conservancy, as predators are on the hunt and their prey is on high alert. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Mt. Kenya- Lake Nakuru 348 km (approx. 5hours 30 mins)

Descend into the Rift Valley’s Lake Nakuru, famous for its millions of pink flamingos. The surrounding park supports many birds and animals, including waterbuck and the endangered white rhino. After checking-in go for an afternoon game drive in the park. Later return to your hotel for dinner and overnight

Day 5: Lake Nakuru-Maasai Mara 119 km (approx. 2hours 30 mins)

Early departure by road to the Maasai Mara, Kenya’s best known game park, renowned for its migrating herds of wildebeest and zebra which come between July and September. Resident game include giraffe, elephant, crocodile, hippo and predators like black-maned lions, cheetah, leopard and hyena. Check-in to your hotel, have lunch then depart for an extensive afternoon game drive. Later in the evening return for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Maasai Mara Full Day

After breakfast spend full day game drive, explore the parks amazingly high concentration of game. This game reserve is Kenya’s finest wildlife sanctuary including migrants, well over 450 species of animals have been recorded here although July, August and September are the months when the Mara plains are filled with migrating wildebeest, zebra and there is also resident wildlife year round. The famous Maasai tribesmen live within the dispersal area of the game reserve. Lunch is served in the park return to the camp for dinner and overnight. Or this can be supplemented with a full game drive with a pic-nic in the Mara Triangle. Sundowners and extra activities with supplements (Massage, Spa treatments, Maasai village visit and Hot air balloon safari) at an extra cost.

Day 7:  Return Nairobi 141 km (approx. 2 hours 40 mins)

Morning game drive then depart for Nairobi. Tour ends. (Optional flight Masai Mara/Nairobi).
